Kelsey Chan
Software Engineer on DocX
👋 Hi! I’m Kelsey, and I joined Coda as a new grad engineer
3.3
years ago. I and .
My prior experience includes teaching middle school girls and non-binary students how to code using Scratch and App Inventor, working with Israeli and Palestinian high school students through the Middle East Entrepreneurs of Tomorrow (MEET) program, and running a hands-on STEM workshop for students at Yeomyung School in Seoul.
Hari Sivaramakrishnan
Software Engineer on BizPlat
👋 I manage three teams at Coda: Data, Internal Tools and Infrastructure, and IT. Over more than 6 and a half years, I've had an extremely broad set of role and responsibilities, from being an IC engineer, to the TL on our early growth team, to bootstrapping and building out our data team.
Prior to Coda, I did a startup for a year, and before that was an engineer and manager in Microsoft’s SQL Server team building Azure SQL Database.
Why Coda?
Oliver Heckmann
Head of Engineering
Before joining Coda in 2021, I was a VP Engineering at Google Ads, running engineering for Google Shopping and for Google Travel (incl. Google Flights, Trips, Google Hotel Ads). And before that I ran the Google Creator team where we built Content ID, YouTube Channels, and helped building a strong ecosystem of creators and turning YouTube into a multi-billion dollar business. I was also the site lead of the Google Zürich site, back then Google’s largest engineering site outside the US before we moved to California.
Before my 14 years at Google I did my PhD and then ran a research team in Darmstadt / Germany, working on Multimedia Communications, Peer-to-Peer Networking, and Gaming.
What’s the most challenging problem you worked on?
Mengjia Kong
Software Engineer on DocX
Hello! I’m Mengjia, a full-stack engineer in Coda! I worked at Uber for 2 and a half year and then at Houzz for 3 and a half years on the Growth teams. Because most of my work experience focuses on driving growth, it shaped me into a data lover and priority driven person. You wanna do something? Show me your hypothesis, goal and data!

Stephen Marquis
Software Engineer on DocX
Hey! I’m Steve, a full stack engineer in our Canvas investment area. I joined Coda
4.9
years ago, just after we launched to beta, and have been on some version of our frontend focused teams ever since. When I’m not at work you’ll probably find me playing one of my many board games with friends.
Before Coda I was the architect for Workday’s mobile team, guiding the design and implementation of many features. Prior to that, I was at Apple, working on the SyncServices and iCloud frameworks helping to sync data across devices

Janvi Kalra
Software Engineer on LED
Heyo, I’m Janvi! I joined Coda
1.3
years ago after graduating from Dartmouth. I grew up in Singapore and Shanghai and am ethnically Indian.
I studied at Dartmouth College where found my perfect intersection between the sciences & humanities –– double majoring in Computer Science and Philosophy. During my college summers, I pursued software engineering internships at Google and Microsoft. After graduating summa cum laude, I joined Coda as a full-stack software engineer as a part of the Kleiner Perkins Engineering Fellowship.
At Coda
Tim James
Software Engineer on DocX
Hi! I was born and raised in the South Bay Area in California, but fell in love with Seattle while I was in graduate school, and live there now. I love exploring new places, being active (ultimate, running, etc.), and trying to make the world a better place. I spend most of my free time with my wife, two teenage kids, and two dogs.
After graduating from Cal (Go Bears!), I went to the University of Washington for a few years to avoid the first e-commerce / Internet bubble. Right when that bubble collapsed, I got my first job at Google, because they were the only people who’d hire me. (No joke - the recession hit hard.)
Freshly out of grad school with only bad coding habits and no experience with Internet software development, databases, front ends, or anything useful, Google was a great place to learn how to write good code and have fun, so I stuck around for a few (12!) years. I worked on ads front ends at Google for 5 years. I then worked at YouTube on all sorts of things (data pipelines, paid content, sports, the 2012 Olympics) and ended up managing the live streaming and gaming teams.
Spencer Chang
Software Engineer on LED
Hi! I’m Spencer, an engineer on the Packs team. I joined the team
1221 days ago
after graduating from Rice in Houston. Outside of work, I like to enjoy the California sun (and sunsets) with good company and generously-filled burritos, read / try to recreate poems and speculative fictions, and try on way .
I care about creating technology and art that is meaningful, in that it resonates on a deep emotional level with people and/or empowers and inspires others to do something that they couldn’t before. I joined Coda because I care about people over the software they use every day, and the democratization of software creation is crucial to that.
My philosophy
Christopher Eck
Head of Infrastructure & Security on BizPlat
I joined Coda in the late summer of 2015 as an engineer.
In addition to core engineering work, I originated and spun up hiring across up most of Coda’s specialized engineering areas including IT, security, SRE, Internal Tools, and Infrastructure.
These days, I’m running engineering for the BizPlat focus area, act as Head of Information Security & Infrastructure for the company, and am a member of the exec team.
Betty Huang
Software Engineer on DocX
I’m an engineer on the Core & Collaboration team. I graduated at Princeton in 2018 before I joined Coda. During my studies I did multiple internships including ones at Pinterest and Accenture, as well as worked as a CS Teaching Assistant.

Himanshu Vasishth
Software Engineer on DocX
Why did you join Coda?
The most important reasons for me to join the Coda were
A star team where I respected everyone I was going to be working with. I am small sized company one of the most important things to consider is will you enjoy working with the team, so this made a big difference.

As I was moving back to Seattle, I had a mantra that I needed to take more risk in my career, and that helped land me at Coda in 2015. I couldn’t be happier with where I landed. The team here really kicked me back into my favorite situation: Learning and growing as an engineer. And I’ve been doing that ever since.

What do you love about your job?
Working closely with and learning from engineers that are better than me every single day.

What’s your favorite plant?
This plant that grows in my yard. I think it’s a Dianthus?
