Introduction to using AI column
AI columns can automatically create content, tags, and data in table columns. Extract, analyze, and organize data from columns in Coda tables, saving time and effort in daily tasks
Step 1 — Add AI to a column
Option 1: Add AI to an existing column
- Go to the column setting at the top of your column header.
- Scroll down and add AI.
Option 2: Add a new AI column
- Press the add column button in the top right of your table to add a blank column.
- Scroll down to find AI and select.
Step 2 — Write your prompt
- Use our pre-existing prompt to get started or write your own.
- In the prompt, you can @ reference other data within the same row, or type = to open the formula builder.

Step 3 — Adjust your length, tone, and type
- You can adjust your prompt or use our options to change the output of your results.
- Keep in mind that keeping “refresh when columns change” turned on will use up more of your AI credits over time.
Making Edits and Adjustments
- If you are not getting the desired results, you can edit your AI prompt.
- Go to the column setting at the top of your column header and click Edit AI.
- If you don’t like the outcome of a certain row, you can refresh one specific row.
- Head to the top-right corner of the row/column you want refreshed.
- Press the circular refresh button to get a different result.
