Meet Docs AI
In this guide, you'll use two specific capabilities: Docs AI works on your canvas and across your Doc. Give it instructions in plain language, and it acts by editing pages, building tables, generating content, and answering questions about your work. AI columns apply a prompt row by row across a table. Set it once, and it runs on every row, generating summaries, tags, action items, email drafts, or any other output you define. Let’s explore some examples of how Docs AI can help you finish tasks faster and make collaboration easier.1. Stay aligned after meetings
Meetings are only valuable if people remember what was decided and follow through on the next steps. Docs AI can help your team generate action items, create summaries, and keep everyone aligned between conversations.Summaries or action items by topic
What’d we decide in that meeting again? After a few days, it's easy to forget what was discussed and who committed to what. AI columns can extract action items and summaries row by row, so every topic has a clear record your team can act on.Create meeting summaries
AI columns can summarize discussions so teammates can quickly understand progress, decisions, and next steps.- Press the add column button to add a blank column.
- Choose the AI column type.
- Select Summarize.
- Choose an Input like a Notes column.
- In Additional instructions, you can add your desired length, tone, and type.
- Select Fill column.
Generate action items automatically
If you have a table with one row per topic, you can add a column to extract action items as checkboxes or to summarize the notes.- Press the add column button to add a blank column.
- Choose the AI column type.
- Select Find action items.
- For Input, choose a column in your table.
- In additional instructions, write something like “List action items as checkboxes."
- Select Fill column.

Action items or summaries across all topics
If your team takes notes on a table or a page, you can use Docs AI to generate summaries or find action items.Summary and action items across all topics
- Click the Docs AI button in the bottom left corner.
- Use the chat panel to type in your prompt. In your prompt, mention the table or the page that contains your notes. If you want Docs AI to take action in your doc, be sure to include it in your prompt.
- Summarize these notes in one sentence.
- Summarize the key decisions and next steps, and add them to the top of the page.
- Add a new page and create a summary I can review before my next meeting.
- Add a subpage and write an executive summary of this discussion.
- Create a list of action items on the page based on the meeting notes. Add them to the page as checkboxes.
2. Turn feedback into insights
Often, teams make decisions based on insights, which can take many forms, like sales calls with customers, support tickets, or social media comments. It can be difficult to collect and learn trends across these insights, and can often be a tedious process. With Docs AI’s help, you can now quickly turn feedback into data to help you make smart decisions, faster.Using Docs AI to apply tags
Using Packs, you can import data from sources like Zoom or Intercom, or create a form to submit feedback that populates a table. Docs AI can then tag this feedback:- Press the add column button to add a blank column.
- Choose the select list column type, then add all relevant tags.
- Choose the Add AI
- In your custom prompt, ask AI to tag any product feedback, and reference the column that contains the feedback.
- Select Fill column.

Visualize feedback trends
With tags in place, you can create a chart view to visualize feedback trends and identify what matters most.
Using Docs AI to summarize feedback
At the row level, you can extract feature feedback from any notes, transcripts, or submissions.- Choose the AI column type.
- Select Summarize.
- For your input, choose your feedback column.
- In additional instructions, you can write something like “Summarize this in one sentence."
- Select Fill column.
- Click the Docs AI button in the bottom left corner.
- Use the chat panel to type in your prompt. In your prompt, mention the table or the page that contains your feedback. If you want Docs AI to take action in your doc, be sure to include it in your prompt.
- Use a prompt like: "Summarize the customer feedback and add it to the top of the page in a callout."
3. Create content faster
Regardless of which team you are on, Docs AI can help you finish routine tasks and focus your energy on strategic, important goals instead.Draft and send customized emails
With Docs AI, you can draft customized emails based on any criteria. If you connect the Gmail Pack, you can send from your doc.- Choose the AI column type.
- Select Custom prompt.
- In your prompt, write something like “create a sales email about a new image editor feature”.
- Choose your desired length, tone, and type.
- Select Fill column.

Create briefs and project documents
Starting a brief or project doc from scratch is one of the easiest things to hand off to Docs AI. Point it at the context already in your Doc, like your feedback tables, meeting notes, or a strategy page, and ask it to build. It drafts the whole thing, structured and ready for review, in seconds. Try prompts like:- Create a PRD for the image editor feature. Use the Customer Feedback table for requirements and the Vision & Strategy page for context.
- Draft a project plan for the Q3 launch based on the Roadmap page. Include owners, milestones, and open questions.
- Summarize the last three months of customer feedback into an executive brief I can share with leadership.
Generate options, and then vote on them
Some of the best team decisions happen when everyone can see the options clearly and weigh in fast. Docs AI can generate a full table of options, with columns for names, features, priorities, approaches, and even add a reaction column so your team can vote without a meeting. Try prompts like:- Generate 20 name options for the new image editing tool. Pull from the Product Brief and create a table with a reaction column for voting.
- Create a table of 10 potential Q3 focus areas based on our customer feedback. Add columns for pros, cons, and a team vote.
- List every open feature request from the Feedback table, score them by frequency, and add a priority vote column.
