Writing Formulas

Typing Special Characters

Thank Kuovonne for creating this content!
In an Airtable formula, you must put hard-coded text inside straight quotes like "This is my text".
But what if you want to include a quote inside your hard-coded text?
Directly typing the quotes won’t work: "She said, "Happy Birthday!"".
One option is to alternate quote styles: 'She said, "Happy Birthday!"'.
Another option is to use escape sequence: : "She said, \"Happy Birthday!\""
The \ character It lets you do things like \" for a quote character and \n for a line break. When the computer sees a \, it thinks you want a special character and looks at the following character to determine what special character you want. What if you want a literal \ in your hard-coded text string? Use the escape sequence \\.
