Applying unique colors to every row in a table

Looking to add some visual pizzaz to your table or card view? Catch your viewer’s attention and reduce visual monotony by making each row a unique color.

Step 1: Create a new number column.

On your table, make a new number column. Name it “Row ID”.

Step 2: Add a calculation.

To your new “Row ID” column, add a calculation to give each row a unique number. Set “Calculate from” to “Row Property” and Property to ”Row ID”. It should look like this:

Step 3: Add conditional formatting.

Add a conditional formatting rule to act on the “Row ID” column. Using the drop down list, set it to “uses color scale” and select either rainbow scale at the bottom of the option list.

Step 4: Hide the helper column.

Your helper column doesn’t need to be seen to be helpful! We recommend hiding it so that it can power your color scheme in the background but not clutter up your table.
