“We suggest to continue to explore the ancient Rome, while strolling around along less touristy areas.”
Teatro Marcello
📜 Some history: It is amazing to see so many structures that were used by the Romans centuries ago. Here you will find plenty of ruins to see, walk through around and soaking up the atmosphere and history. The theatre was built under Emperor Augustus for his nephew Marcello.
Nowadays you can see some private apartments built atop the theatre and during summer it becomes a magical place where you can enjoy magnificent concerts. As mentioned above, the area is full of ruins, in here you will also get the chance to admire the Apollo and Bellona temple, the Portico of Octavia and the Giano. Temple.
I also suggest the India Theater, where you can watch the Gustavia performance. This is a dance and a play where characters are twins, an acute feminism critique of the imperatives imposed on women to play their gender satisfactorily with contradictory dialogues.
