Local food market

“Allow all your senses to come alive, with the culinary delights of Roman market life. Below is a guide to Rome’s food markets, to get an authentic taste of Italy’s capital city”

Campo dei Fiori Market

image.jpeg
📜 Some history: Feel the atmosphere of a genuine roman street market emerged in the smells, sounds and flavours of Italian food! Some of the merchants have been working there for decades, so the market is their house. They sing, they yell at each other, they express the mood of the day, they protest against corrupt politicians, they make us feel alive in the most amazing city in the world.
🧉 What to try: You can taste fresh and dry fruits, juices, mozzarella, meat, fish and flowers - a real taste for all of your senses. You have 2 drinking fountains in the market where you can wash your hands and the fruits if needed and have water, the Roman way!

Mercato di Testaccio

📜 Some history: Testaccio is one of Rome’s trendiest food markets. It is a modern indoor gastronomic centre, where you can discover Italian cuisine in all its forms. There are many stands and restaurants, offering fresh seasonal food, artisanal street food and gourmet goodies. It is also a popular place for locals like me, to meet up and enjoy meals at the various eateries.
🧉 What to try: It is a lovely local market where you can find local ingredients, products and artisans. Here you can choose what you want to eat among different food stands. You can find dishes with meat, fish, trippa alla romana sandwich and even pizza!
