You’ve got the portfolio. Now’s the time to make some decisions on the types of UX jobs that are the best fit for you, and how that lines up with your career goals and ambitions.
Find a quiet spot, pull open the provided Google Doc, and take one hour to answer the following questions:
What does your ideal first job in design look like?
What kinds of companies do you want to work at?
What industries are you most interested in exploring?
What type of skills and responsibilities do you hope to use in that job?
Are you most interested in agencies, in-house jobs, working at startups, freelance, or something else? Why?
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Are you a senior designer, a product manager, a freelancer, or something else?
What additional skills should you be working on next to help you get there?
Bring this to your first discussion with your career coach, and they can give you advice on additional skills and types of jobs that line up with your career ambitions.
