3/8 - Experience as Data and Career Curation

Creative Life Curation method - March 8, 2024.png

[CALL for DIVE] The "Creative Life Curation" Method

There are many kinds of knowledge projects. Each type of knowledge project uses Life Experiences in different ways. I list the following four ways: 1. Experience as Non-thing Your life experiences are not relevant to your knowledge projects. 2. Experience as Cause The motivation behind your knowledge projects is derived from a particular life experience. 3. Experience as Clue A particular life experience inspires the inspiration of your knowledge projects. 4. Experience as Data You use your life experiences as empirical data for your knowledge projects. Creative Life Theory is a knowledge enterprise that aims to explore the complexity of creators' life course. The object, the creators' life course, defines the methods. This is why I adopted the "Experience as Data" approach to run several knowledge projects such as the Slow Cognition project and the Mental Moves project. Moreover, my 2022 book (draft) Creative Life Curation developed a brand new method to study life courses. The method encourages people to use their own life experiences as data for life reflection. It also suggests researchers use other people's life experiences as data for life course research. Can researchers use their own life experiences as data? Yes! This is what "Autoethnography" does. Anyway, the key is turning messy life experiences into useful raw materials. The "Creative Life Curation" Method defines several units of analysis and offers a series of tools such as Knowledge Discovery Canvas, Meaning Discovery Canvas, Life Discovery Canvas, etc. You can find more details on CALL's website:

Mid-Career Curation

Creative Life Curation for Mid-career Professional

[CALL for DIVE] Mid-career Curation Creative Life Curation for Mid-career Professionals In 2022, I worked on the Life Curation project and wrote a book (draft) titled Creative Life Curation: Turning Experiences into Meaningful Achievements. In 2023, I developed a new ontology of "Life" and discussed the following related themes: 1. Life (Self) 2. The Persona — Activity Fit 3. The Mindset — Action Fit 4. The Meaning — Experience Fit 5. The Mental System — Behavioral System Fit 6. The Thematic Space — Social Territory Fit Moreover, I wrote three books about "Discovery" from Jan 2022 to Jan 2024: 1. Knowledge Discovery Canvas 2. Life Discovery Canvas 3. Meaning Discovery Canvas So, it's time to upgrade the "Creative Life Curation" method with some new ideas and tools. Inspired by 's comment on a topic about mid-career professionals, I decided to develop a new program called Mid-career Curation. The primary objective of the program is very simple! If you are a mid-career professional who has over eight years of work experience, we can help you turn your life experience into life achievements by introducing a set of tools for Creative Life Curation. One module of the program is called "Discovering Thematic Spaces", you can find two examples below: 1. Eight Thematic Spaces of my Creative Life 2. Robert Kegan's Creative Life thank you very much! cc: Aditya Pawar ---------- Related links: Creative Life Curation: Turning Experiences into Meaningful Achievements (book, 2022, draft) Three books (drafts) about "Discovery" The Meaning Discovery Model The Development of My “Life” Thematic Space in 2023 (3/8/2024)
