We're investing $1 million in our makers.

We’ve created the Maker Fund, setting aside $1,000,000 to enable people to build Docs and Packs that get seen and used by millions.
Are you an expert at building Coda docs, a developer who gets excited by integrations, or both? Click the button below to pitch something you’d like to build, and if it gets approved, we’ll fund you. It’s as simple as that! Funding can primarily be to offset the cost of building or marketing your solution, but we’re open to hearing from you about other ways it could help you build more on Coda.

FAQs

What types of ideas get funded?

See for some examples, but in general we look for ideas that extend the functionality of Coda, take advantage of all the tools Coda has to offer like Packs and Published Docs, and have some user demand for them.

What is the funding criteria?

You’re creating an effective solution - Your idea successfully solves a problem for a clear target audience.
You have product-maker fit and some sort of validation/traction. For example: a doc, landing page, V1 of a pack, a waitlist, etc.
You have the experience, expertise, and/or passion to deliver this solution to the market.
You’re building sustainably - You have the ambition to support your solution for the long haul - whether as a successful side hustle, growing it into a multi-million dollar business, or somewhere in between.
You have the right set of skills to successfully build a Pack or a Doc.
There’s a clear promotion and GTM (Go To Market) strategy.
The idea is aligned to Coda’s vision and strategy.

I have an idea but I don’t have the time/ability to build it myself. Where can I submit it?

If it’s a Pack, you can submit it at . If it’s a doc, you can submit it to the .

Can I get funding for something I’ve already built?

It depends on what you’ve built, but it is certainly possible. Ideally, you have a sense for how to take your idea to the next level and how funding could help you do so. Reach out to us!

When can I expect to hear back on an idea I proposed?

We review applications on a rolling basis, so expect to hear back within a few weeks of submitting.

What happens after I finish building something?

You’ll share it with us, we’ll review it, and give you feedback or green-light it for funding.

How much can I make via the Maker Fund?

The amount of funding depends on what you’re building, and how much demand there is for it. We’ll let you know the amount before you begin working. There isn’t a cap on how many ideas you can work on.

Does Coda own anything as a result of the funding?

No, this isn’t a venture fund and your work is your own (although anything built on Coda is subject to our ).

How will I get paid?

Once you’ve built the Pack(s) / Doc(s) associated with your idea and we’ve reviewed and approved them, we’ll issue a payment. While payments are contingent on actually delivering the solution, we’ll give you confirmation before you start.

When will I get paid?

We’ll process reviews and payments on a rolling schedule, but can let you know the expected time frame you’ll receive your payment when we approve your submission.

I have a question that isn’t covered here.
