How to get KSM

How to get KSM

There are three main ways to get KSM into your account:

From within Singular

From outside Singular

From RMRK (via sponsorship)

1. From within Singular

Step 1

On Singular, click the Get KSM button. On the popup you will see 3 different options.

Via Ramp (KYC Needed): This will help you buy KSM with your credit card but you will need to verify your identity for regulatory purposes.

Via Electrcoin: This will help you buy KSM with your credit card or other cryptocurrencies–BTC, ETH, USDT, and DAI. If you choose to buy with your credit card, you will need to do KYC verification for swaps bigger than $1,000.

Via Simplex: This will help you buy KSM with your credit card without asking for KYC verification.

Step 2

If you want to buy with your credit card and don’t mind KYC, then choose any of the options. Ramp is the simplest because everything happens in the Singular UI.

If you want to buy with fiat and are unable to do KYC, then use Simplex or Electrocoin (and keep your purchase under $1,000).

If you want to buy KSM with another cryptocurrency (ETH, BTC, DAI, USDT) then use Electrocoin.

Step 3

For all three options it is important to input your correct KSM address. If you input the wrong address, you will lose your funds. The safest way to copy your public address is by copying it off the Polkadot extension. You can do this by clicking on the identicon image and you will notice a “Copied” text popup, signaling that the address has been copied to your clipboard and ready to paste (see image below for an example).

You can also copy it off your profile on the Singular menu bar.

NOTE: KYC means Know Your Customer and sometimes Know Your Client. KYC verification is the mandatory process of identifying and verifying a client’s identity when opening an account or completing certain financial transactions. In other words, some businesses (especially those in finance) must make sure that their clients are genuinely who they claim to be. This helps the business fulfil its Anti Money Laundering (AML) compliance.

2. From outside Singular

Go to your preferred centralized exchange (Binance, Huobi, Kraken, KuCoin, etc.) or decentralized exchange that has KSM pairs (Karura Swap, Polkaswap, etc.) Note that most (if not all) decentralized exchanges (DEXs) that aren’t native to the Kusama ecosystem (like Ethereum’s Uniswap and Sushiswap) don’t have KSM listed.

Buy KSM using fiat or cryptocurrency.

Withdraw the KSM to your Kusama address.
