How to Conduct a Call

Introduction

Hi! I’m ________. I’m a _________ (current student, graduate,), and work in Admissions at The Institute for GOD, a Bible and Missions College in Nashville.

Brief

We heard you were interested in going into *their major of choice*, and I’d love to tell you a little bit about the programs we offer here, and also to learn more about what you’re interested in and looking for in a college.

Who we are?

Only share one or two of these points at a time, then ensure you ask them questions.
We’re Nashville’s Premier Missions College, and we provide a 2 or 4 year Bible or Missions degrees with a unique occupational training program. Our goal is to help students:
Learn their identity in Christ
Make lifelong friends by learning the Bible together
Consider what they’ll do to advance God’s mission in the world, which is a really big question, but we have a pretty awesome way to help you figure that out.
All of our students gain practical experience in ministry in Nashville, and take three separate trips to the developing world to go on mission together.
We’re also a no-debt college. Students who come here can opt into our biggest scholarship program called ProDev, where they explore various occupational trajectories in Christian workplaces, getting access to our biggest scholarship and setting them up to graduate with a clear career trajectory.
We think learning the Bible first is the best thing you can do for your future. Our alumni have learned the Bible first and then gone on into fields as diverse as midwifery, film, business, construction, graphic design, culinary, and more, all while being actively involved in ministry and mission efforts.
I’m a (student/graduate) here, and I really believe in our program because ...

Ask THEM questions:

“Do you mind if I ask you a few questions to learn what God is doing in your life/what you believe he’s calling you to?”

The principle here is people love to talk about themselves more than they love to hear you talk about your college. Apart from the basic brief above, now make the conversation about the prospective student, and only add in the pieces of our school you think would best align with their wants/desires.

Questions:

Samples:
What do you feel God is calling you to in life?
What’s the biggest thing you’re looking for in a college experience?
What makes you nervous about college?
How does your family feel about you going to college?
How do your parents feel about you going into ministry?
Did you grow up in church/have a faith-based family?
You can ask these as they are natural. As they talk, you listen, then bring up connected points you find to be relevant in the conversation. (Example: I remember feeling that way too. At our school, we do ... which helped me .... .)
For more question prompts, refer to this section:

Call Tips:

ALWAYS include your name and “The Institute for GOD, a Bible and Missions college in Nashville”
Ask them questions! This serves a dual purpose - gives you control of the conversation, and lets them talk about themselves, which people love to do.
If they say “what was the name of your school again?” or anything like that say “The Institute for GOD and I’m texting you the link to our website right now!” and do it!
Pray for them at the end of your call.
TAKE. NOTES. IN GO. Either while you’re talking to them (only if it doesn't take away from the quality of the call, or immediately after the call)
