purpose (3 points)
2 points: appropriate question or statement about what you are doing in the lab
1 point: why you are doing this lab in chemistry class
hypothesis (5 points)
1 point: appropriate “if” statement
1 point: appropriate “then” statement
3 points: appropriate “because” statement
logical explanation of hypothesis
citing of previous knowledge and facts in support of the statement
materials (2 points)
1 point: names of the materials
1 point: descriptions and amounts of the materials
procedure (3 points)
1 point: procedure in list form
1 point: procedure in logical order for the lab
1 point: clear and specific instructions in your own words
data and observations (6 points)
2 points: appropriate qualitative (descriptive) data
2 points: appropriate quantitative (numerical) data
2 points: clear presentation of the data (charts, images, etc.)
calculations and analysis (8 points)
2 points: showing appropriate calculations (showing work, significant figures)
2 points: graphing numerical data (correct graph, labels, title, key)
3 points: analysis of data and how it answers the purpose
1 point: errors in experiment and how they could have been fixed
conclusion (3 points)
2 points: explaining whether the hypothesis is correct
1 point: suggesting what could be the next experiment done after the one you just completed
