TikTok is a new social media app that has been gaining more and more popularity in the past few months. It was created by Chinese company ByteDance. TikTok is different from other social media apps as it doesn’t allow photos or text posts and only allows users to post videos, which were originally limited to 15 seconds long. Now TikTok offers users the ability to post short-form and long-form posts.
Short-form posts can be 15, 30. or 60 seconds long, while long-form posts can be anywhere from 3 minutes to 10 minutes depending on what limits TikTok has unlocked for your account. (TikTok unlocks higher limits for accounts who post regularly and are creating engaging content.)
The reason why TikTok has become so popular among young people is because it offers an alternative for sharing content in comparison with other social media platforms like Facebook or Instagram.
Types of TikTok Content
TikTok Posts
TikTok posts are short-form video posts that come in 15 second, 60 second, and 3 minute limits. (TikTok is also testing out a 10 minute limit for videos with select users)

TikTok Stories
Just like Instagram Stories, TikTok stories are photo or short video posts in vertical format that disappear after 24 hours. Photos appear for five seconds, and videos can be up to 15 seconds long.
TikTok Stories live in the news feed and on a user’s profile page, you can view a story by clicking the profile picture of the user.
TikTok Live
If pre-recorded videos aren’t your thing, try dabbling with Live. TikTok Live video is a live-streamed broadcast, right from your TikTok page. Currently, you must have at least 1,000 followers before this feature becomes unlocked.
Live video is an intimate, authentic way to connect with followers. These broadcasts can be used for Q&As, behind-the-scenes tours, product demos and much more.
