Summary

YouTube is a video-sharing website that allows users to upload and share videos. It was created by three former PayPal employees, Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim in 2005. It is now owned by Google's parent company Alphabet Inc.
Users can watch the videos on the site or they can embed them on different websites. They can also subscribe to channels that they like.
YouTube has a lot of features that make it a very popular platform for video sharing and entertainment purposes. It has also become the second largest search engine next to Google.

Types of YouTube Content

Video post

Video posts are the bedrock of YouTube. Videos were originally the only post type YouTube allowed before branching out into livestreaming, shorts, and more.
By default users can upload videos up to 15 minute long. Verified accounts can upload files up to either 256 GB, or 12 hours of run time, whichever limit is hit first.

Livestreaming

If pre-recorded videos aren’t your thing, try dabbling with Live. YouTube Live video is a live-streamed broadcast, right on your YouTube page.
Live video is an intimate, authentic way to connect with followers. These broadcasts can be used for Q&As, behind-the-scenes tours, product demos and much more. YouTube also continues to push it’ sub-brand , YouTube Gaming, to compete head on with Twitch.

YouTube Shorts

YouTube Shorts are short-form, vertical video content created using a smartphone and uploaded directly to YouTube from the YouTube app.
Using YouTube’s built-in creation tools, you can capture, edit, add music from major labels (including Sony, Universal, and Warner), add animated text, control the speed of your footage, and edit together multiple 15-second video clips to create your Shorts.

Community Tab Posts

Community posts can include images, videos, text, GIFs, and polls. Community posts allow you to be in touch with your audience outside of video uploads.
Once you cross 500 subscribers, it will take up to one week for the community tab to appear on your portal for you to access it.
The community post always appears on the Community tab and may appear in the Home or the Subscriptions feed.
