Summary

Pinterest is a social media platform that has been around since 2010. It was created as an online pinboard for people to gather and share things they find interesting.
Pinterest is a visual bookmarking site that allows users to upload and save images, videos, links and other content from the web. Users can then "pin" these items to their Pinterest boards which are organized by category.
Pinterest has over 200 million monthly active users, with over 40% of them being female. This makes it one of the largest social media platforms for women in the world today.

Types of Pinterest Content

Static Pins

Static Pins feature one image. You can create a static Pin from your photosor from images you find online.
You’ll need to follow different steps to create a static Pin using a business account

Idea Pins

Idea Pins are a multi-page format featuring up to 20 pages of videos, images and text in a single Pin. You can customize them by changing the background color, adding stickers and text, tagging products, and more. You can use Idea Pins to:
Create a step-by-step guide, project or recipe
Upload multiple short videos or photos with additional descriptive text or text overlay
Customize the colors and fonts in your Pin
Curate a collection of products
Tell a story in a brand new way

Video Pins

Video Pins feature a single video. They automatically play when they appear in your home feed and they have cover images to capture attention.
Video Pins are different from Idea Pins, because they do not feature multiple pages of videos, images and text.
You’ll need a Pinterest business account to create video Pins on your desktop. If you’re an advertiser, you can create video Pins on your mobile device too. If you do not have a Pinterest business account and you want to create video content on Pinterest, you can create an Idea Pin

Rich Pins

A rich Pin is a type of Pin that automatically syncs information from your website to your Pins. There are three types of rich Pins:
Recipe Pins add a title, serving size, cook time, ratings, diet preference and a list of ingredients to recipes that you save from your site. Article Pins add the description, author, and headline or title of an article or blog post from your site. Product Pins include the most up-to-date pricing, availability and product information on your Pin. They’re a shoppable Pin format available to people with Pinterest business accounts. Click a product Pin to shop products that are available to buy. Some product Pins direct you to the retailer’s website and others allow you to purchase products from retailers without leaving Pinterest.

Collections Pins

Collections Pins are product Pins that have been grouped together in a collection. When someone clicks on a Pin in the collection, they can shop for similar products.

Try On product Pins

Try On is a feature that lets people virtually try on products they find on the Pinterest app using Pinterest Lens. It’s currently only available on mobile devices in selected regions.
If you're interested in enabling Try On for your products, sit tight! This feature is currently in beta and will be rolling out to all accounts soon!
