Knight's Helmet (replica) [Medieval Gallery]

The favourite object of our made up character
Shadow the Aircraft Carrier
is the
replica knight’s helmet
You will find this unusual object in the
Medieval gallery
Can you spot anything that makes it obvious it is not a real 500 year old helmet?
Have you seen anything in the museum that is over 500 years old? Take a photo of them both and compare them.
These helmets are made for protection rather than style, just like a bicycle helmet!
However, it would not be easy to ride a bike while wearing one of these, look at the size of the holes to look through! Why are these so small?
The knight would also be wearing a suit of armour made from the iron or steel which would weigh 20-25 kilograms.
If you ever get the chance to wear a replica helmet, armour or chainmail we recommend it to get the experience. You can feel the protection the small holes give your eyes but also discover how much energy it would take to get ready for a battle before a sword was even lifted!
