How was the project created? [Temporary Gallery]

Thank you for visiting Berwick Museum and Art Gallery to explore Berwick’s Celebrations, a trail through the museum for a fictional event created with our friends at The Grove School.
On a visit to see the new L S Lowry beach scene painting we asked the students, “What do they see?”
After a conversation and tours of the galleries we asked them to choose their favourite object and then look at the painting again and select one figure.
From this figure they have created a character and a short story which you will find by their favourite object, all fictional.
This painting is estimated to be painted in the 1960s however when creating the characters we didn’t limit anyone's imagination.
The students decided the beach scene was depicting a celebration at Spittal Beach following the end of the Second World War in 1945.
Throughout the story you will see facts are in green ink imagined ideas are in orange ink.
Thank you to the students from Mrs Foreman’s class who created the stories, set the location and decided on the scenario.
