The Second World War in Berwick [Medieval Gallery]

War was declared on the 📅 3rd of September 1939, Berwick was mostly lucky.
However, the borough was 💣 11 times, 25 people were killed, 47 were injured, 25 🏠 were destroyed and another 1000 🏡 damaged during the six years of war.
The town can claim to be one of the first in England to experience an 🛫 air raid, on the 📅 20th of July 1940.
Large sections of the beach were closed during the war here is a list of activities the Berwick town council arranged or advise people to be doing:
