More about Berwick Museum and Art Gallery [Shop/Reception]

, located in the Ravensdowne Barracks - the first purpose-built army barracks in England

Home to the Berwick Burrell Collection, it’s popular with visitors – many of whom were stationed at the Barracks which were in use up until 1964.
The Burrell Collection was one of the most generous civic donations to be made in Europe and pulls in the crowds with spectacular pieces on display all summer.

The Berwick Burrell Collection of fine and decorative art is not one to miss – an impressive array of artworks to suit every taste.

It’s made up of over 300 pieces including must-see oil paintings, watercolours, and drawings by masters including Degas, Boudin and Daubigny as well as locally-grown talents from Northumberland’s very own Joseph Crawhall.
Also taking pride of place are Medieval, Neolithic and Bronze Age artefacts, as well as Samurai armour and swords, East Asian art and Egyptian antiquities. We even have a 90-million-year-old dinosaur on display and our very own dragon – fun for people of all ages!
Discover more about Northumberland’s impact on the world and its challenging history as a border territory.
With so much to see and experience, a trip to Berwick Museum and Art Gallery is sure to be a memorable day out for all.
