Hunting for absconders [Lift]
Hunting for absconders [Lift]
The Militia was sent round the countryside 🌲🏔 to hunt for perpetrators of the protest.
The Government wanted to show strength 💪 and knew word would reach other counties about this event, as they were due to ballot other regions.
In reality, they never secured the militia they wanted in the area until April 1762.
They did follow up on threats for those they accused of and found guilty of treason.
Peter Pattison/Patterson was executed at Newcastle-upon-Tyne, 5th October, 1761 for being involved in a Riot at Hexham.
