Monday 9th March 1761 [Dodd Room]

At 10am the red-coated soldiers line the square rifles out, bayonets ordered on.
All residents of the county eligible for the ballot are beginning to gather in the square.
Some groups arrive singing with the banter others are on their own and anxious numbers in the square begins to grow past the town’s population of 3000.
You can imagine people finding their friends to chat as they would on market days and general camaraderie.
