Rationing in the war [Medieval Gallery]

It meant each household had a limited choice and amount of food to be purchased, however it also helped ensure each household had equal access to the limited food supplies.

Do you know what wasn’t rationed?
🍓🍎🍏🍐 and 🥕🥬🥦🥒🥔🧅🍅 ! Think on that next time you are hungry.
The household would be given a book of tokens based on their entitlement.
Campaigns like Dig for Britain encouraged the use of green spaces like golf courses and football fields to become places to plant potatoes and vegetables to grow more food.
You can find a typical weekly food ration for one adult on Historic-UK website.
