On Using Coda

Creating New Docs or Pages

We only have one “Doc Maker” which is the account for accounting reasons and to ensure we don’t end up with too many docs since it’s all about organization.
(See Shared Vault to login as this account.)
Everyone else is an “Editor” which means that they can add new Pages to Existing Docs.

Sharing Docs and Pages

Currently, there is no way to share just a page within a Coda doc, because sharing is on a Doc level, so if you want to share just one page you have to break it out into its own Doc, but please put a link to it from the original page so its all still organized.

Share Published Version for Read-Only Access

Whenever sharing docs we want to use the “Published” Version, by going to “Share” at the top left-corner and then clicking on “Publish” tab. Change the Doc URL to be something that makes sense and isn’t too long. Please add the Published URL to the for easy reference. (Ideally we would create a link so that we can track the traffic and change the link easily after sharing it.)
Once “Published” - you will just click the “Copy published doc link”

Shared Folder vs Private

We have several shared folder that all the shared Docs live in. You can have your own Private docs in the “My docs” folder, but ideally everything is transparent and shared with all of our collaborators.
