One of the great benefits of heading out on any of our trips is that we’re able to unplug from our digital world for a few days. Electronics are allowed while traveling to our destinations, but we have a longstanding rule that Scouts are not allowed to use electronics while on our trips (i.e. if brought they’ll be left in vehicles and not used during the trip).
ITINERARY
We’ll meet at and leave from the Publix on S Royal Oaks in Franklin (
We've rented an island! We'll be paddling out via canoe to an island in Tims Ford State Park and spending the night there. This will be great practice for our longer canoeing trip at Grimes Canoe Base in September.
We’ll head to the Devils Step Boat Launch on Tims Ford Lake, load up all our gear, and paddle out to the Maple Bend Island. There are 2 campsites on the island, and we’ve reserved them both. Half of the group will camp in each site (at least 2 adults per campsite). Once there we’ll setup camp and spend some time working on canoeing skills. On Sunday morning we’ll break camp and paddle back and load up for the trip home.
