What to do after a trip is over
Last edited 64 days ago by Troop 13 Technology
You’ve survived the hike/paddle/cook/camp/weather from the trip this weekend. What should you do now? Aside from applying those skills you practice/learned to future trips, there are several quick things that you may need to do.
🥾TROOP GEAR: if you have any Troop gear (tents, cooking gear, water filtration, etc) please dry/clean it and bring it back for the quartermaster at the next Troop meeting. Remember - it’s likely that you will be the next person to use the gear that you’re returning, so return it in shape that you would like to receive it in!
For tents in particular - please be sure that all accessories are included (poles, stakes, ground cloth).
If you have the MSR Dromedary bladder please disinfect it with a solution of bleach water (add 1 liter of water, a capful of bleach, and let sit overnight, then rinse thoroughly, and let fully air dry before bringing it back.
If you have one of the Platypus water filters, please disinfect it using the following manufacturer instructions. Let fully air dry before bringing it back.
To disinfect your Platypus filtration system, fill it with a solution of unscented household bleach and water, using a concentration of 2-5 drops per liter of water. Close and swirl for 10 seconds. Leave filled for 15 minutes. Filter solution through any filters and/or hoses, then rinse system (including filters and hoses) three times with hot water. Let air dry.
🥘 COOKS: please fill out the for your cooking expenses. You can give it to Jerry Walters the next Troop meeting and he will cut you a check. This process will be updated/automated a bit later this year.
🚙 DRIVERS: you are encouraged to fill out the for gas mileage ($0.20 per mile). Alternatively if you have gas receipts you can submit reimbursement for your actual fuel costs.
