Your next task is to consider any reporting that will be generated from the process. For each report, consider:
What is its purpose?
When will it be generated?
Who will be viewing it?
What information will it contain?
Why consider reporting now?
Oftentimes, there are set reports that must be created about the process. Considering the reports upfront allows you to align the process steps with the reporting requirements. This ensures that the process captures all the necessary activities and decision points needed to generate the desired reports. It helps avoid gaps or missing data that may hinder accurate reporting.
For example: You know need to generate a weekly status update on all current projects. Your process, as you’ve mapped it, has teams reporting updates every month. Think: will project statuses be current enough to generate the report as intended? If no, you may need to refactor your process.
Objectives
Identify all reports that will be generated from the process
Verify that the process, as mapped, provides adequate level of detail to generate each report
