🛺 Ho‘ohana Whoo Pedicab Driver Onboarding Process

Empowering drivers with purpose, freedom, and community alignment

STEP 1: Obtain Chauffeur's Permit & Background Check

Driver Requirements (before applying):
Be 21+ years old
Have a valid state-issued driver’s license
Must apply for and receive a Chauffeur’s Permit from the city
Submit to and pass a City-Approved Background Check
📍 Direct them to the city website or local office for:
Permit application
Fingerprinting or background submission info
Cost of processing + where to pay
📎 Include a QR code or short link to the city’s chauffeur permit instructions

📝 STEP 2: Fill Out the Ho‘ohana Whoo Application

Once the driver has initiated their permit process (or already has one), they must:
Scan the QR Code to access the Ho‘ohana Whoo Driver Application Form
Upload their:
Chauffeur’s permit (or receipt if pending)
Driver’s license
Recent photo for their app profile
Emergency contact info
Optional: Proof of vehicle ownership (if they have their own cab)
💡 Tip: Use Google Forms or Coda for the application form and link a QR code to it.

🔐 STEP 3: Send Log-In Code + Access to Driver Portal

Once the application is reviewed:
Send a personalized log-in code to the driver’s email/text
Include a welcome message and driver handbook (optional PDF or video)
Add their profile to the dispatch/ride-tracking system (like TaxiCaller)

📲 STEP 4: App Setup for Driver + Customer Access

Driver App:
Provide instructions to download the Ho‘ohana Whoo Driver App
Send a QR code to the app download link (Apple Store/Google Play)
Include setup instructions (log-in, location access, notifications)
Customer App:
Send them a second QR code to encourage riders to download the Customer Ride App
This allows drivers to help customers book rides directly from their phones

📢 STEP 5: Active Engagement + Ride Promotion

Once the driver is fully signed on:
Begin in-person outreach: Stephanie or designated team members walk around and ask:
“Hey, would you like a pedicab ride? We have an app now!”
Share the Customer App QR code on cards or signs
Help potential riders download and book directly
Encourage new drivers to do the same — build a culture of driver-led promotion

🛠️ STEP 6: Ongoing Support & Check-Ins

Weekly check-ins for feedback, questions, and community updates
