How to Collaborate with Influencers

1. Understanding Influencer Marketing: - Learn about the concept of influencer marketing and its potential benefits for your business. - Identify influencers who align with your target bride and can effectively promote your brand.
2. Identifying the Right Influencers: - Focus on local micro-influencers who are in the same life stage as your target audience. - Look for engaged or soon-to-be-engaged individuals who can model for engagement sessions or styled shoots.
3. Approaching Influencers: - Reach out to influencers through direct messages, expressing your interest in collaboration. - Highlight how your collaboration can benefit them, whether it's by providing professional photos or showcasing their style.
4. Setting Boundaries: - Establish clear terms of collaboration to protect the value of your work. - Be cautious of requests for free wedding photography in exchange for exposure, as it may not be a fair arrangement. Consider offering discounts or other mutually beneficial agreements instead.
5. Long-Term Benefits: - Recognize the potential for building long-term relationships with influencers. - If influencers appreciate your work and enjoy collaborating with you, they may even consider booking you for their own wedding.

My Key Points
This is one of my favorite ways to build an audience quickly and inexpensively. Collaborating with local micro influencers in your area on photoshoots/ styled wedding shoots can give you some great exposure as well as networking opportunities when you are first starting out. Look for influencers who look like your “target bride” and share some of the same interest/values on social media. They ideally should be in a relationship or newly engaged (so they can model engagement sessions or a styled shoot). Many times, if they like your work and enjoy working with you they will book you for their wedding! (Note: Some individuals with large social media followings will ask for free wedding photography in return for “exposure”. This is never worth it and a bad trap to fall into).
By understanding the fundamentals of influencer marketing and effectively collaborating with influencers, you can expand your brand reach, gain exposure to your target audience, and establish valuable connections within the industry.
