Community Engagement Events

🌱 Ho‘ohana Whoo – Community Engagement Events

🎯 Objective

To host and co-create intentional community gatherings that blend local culture, wellness, movement, music, street art, storytelling, and commerce—supporting both collective healing and grassroots celebration across neighborhoods, nightlife zones, public parks, and creative spaces.

🧩 Problems Addressed

💔 Many communities feel disconnected, overwhelmed, or left out of city growth
🛑 There’s a lack of inclusive, safe, and restorative public events
🧍 Local artists, healers, and small vendors often lack platforms to connect directly with their neighborhoods
🗓️ Most “events” are too commercial, exclusive, or inaccessible to diverse communities
💬 People crave connection and belonging—but don’t know where to go for it

💡 Solutions

Host free or donation-based events that include music, wellness activities, food, art, storytelling, open mics, and community talks
Offer pedicab rides, vendor booths, roaming support, and mobile stages or healing stations
Collaborate with artists, mutual aid groups, youth mentors, and wellness practitioners
Provide spaces for joy, visibility, cultural exchange, creativity, and rest
Rotate events in key areas (6th Street, East Side, parks, churches, community centers)
