FAQ

How are Packs like this made?
Packs are built using the Pack Builder SDK, which you can . The Copper Pack is open-source, and you can to see how it works (and, if you’d like, contribute improvements). Some advanced Pack Builder SDK features it uses:
Custom auth
Sync tables that merge data from multiple endpoints
Dynamic sync table schemas (to allow for custom fields)
Autocomplete from API + previous parameters
Who made this?
Me, Nick Haffie-Emslie. I’m not directly affiliated with Copper or Coda (just a fan!), though this Pack was developed with generous support from Coda’s . If you have an idea for something you’d like to build, submit it!
Did you manually type in fake data for hundreds of records for this demo doc?
Nope! I used the excellent . They’ve got a generous free tier, and handle pretty smart stuff like letting you connect schemas together (like the way a Person is a member of a Company).
Is this Pack safe? Can you see my confidential CRM data?
Coda’s Pack system is highly secure; 3rd party Pack authors like me have no way to access users’ API credentials, nor the data that passes through the Pack. I just build the pipes. Any Copper data you sync into Coda will live in Coda, and you can read more about security on the Coda platform
.
I’m using Update____CustomField(), but I don’t see my changes reflected in Coda.
This is a limitation of the Pack SDK, where user-customizable columns (like Custom Fields) don’t get updated in real-time. When you use one of the Update Custom Field formulas, here’s what happens:
It updates the custom field on Copper right away (5-10 sec)
It does not get updated in Coda, until you refresh the sync table. You can do this manually, or wait until the next scheduled automatic sync (which you can set to hourly, daily or manual)
Why doesn’t the Pack support X?
I’d love to hear about what kind of additional features you’d like to see implemented, and will do my best to implement things that have popular support. If you have an idea, post it in the , and tag @Nick_HE in it
Help! It’s broken!
If you’re stuck on something or the Pack seems to be misbehaving, post in the , and tag @Nick_HE
