Objective

To streamline the process of sourcing and hiring actors who can self-film for video projects, using Backstage.com as the primary platform for casting calls and actor engagement.

Scope

This SOP applies to content sourcing officers responsible for acquiring talent for Video Sales Letters (VSLs) and other projects that require organically filmed content by the actors themselves.

Responsibilities

Content Sourcing Officer: To manage the posting of casting calls, review actor submissions, and handle communications and agreements with selected actors.
Project Manager: To oversee the process and ensure that casting aligns with project needs and timelines.
Legal/Contracts Specialist: To assist in the preparation and review of contracts to ensure compliance with legal standards and project requirements.

Procedure

Step 1: Prepare Casting Call Details
1.1 Define Project Requirements: Collaborate with the project team to outline specific requirements for the roles, including character descriptions, performance expectations, and self-filming capabilities.
1.2 Develop Casting Call: Create a detailed casting call document specifying role requirements, project details, compensation, and instructions for self-filming submissions.
Step 2: Post Casting Call on Backstage.com
2.1 Create an Account/Log In: Ensure you have access to an operational Backstage.com account under the company’s profile.
2.2 Post the Casting Call: Follow Backstage.com’s guidelines to post the casting call. Include clear instructions on how actors can apply, what materials they should submit (e.g., self-taped audition, resume), and any specific video quality requirements.
Step 3: Review Submissions and Select Candidates
3.1 Monitor Submissions: Regularly check the responses to the casting call and collect submissions.
3.2 Review Actor Submissions: Evaluate the submissions based on predefined criteria tailored to the project needs. Pay particular attention to actors’ ability to convey emotion and presence through self-filmed content.
3.3 Shortlist Candidates: Select a shortlist of potential candidates for further evaluation.
Step 4: Conduct Interviews and Auditions
