enzyme- protein that enables chemical reactions

synthesis- combining 2 molecules to create a new product

degradation- separates a molecule into 2 products

active site- a region of an enzyme where substrates bind (the molecule(s) being acted on).

The shape is specific, like a puzzle piece, for its substrate

amount of substrate will affect the rate, as well as the PH and temperature.
