Demo

This guide explains how to prepare and launch a Spacerun cloud gaming demo, what requirements should be checked before starting, and how to present the experience smoothly during a live demo.

Recommended Demo Setup

On the host side, the machine or cloud instance should be prepared in advance. The game should already be installed, the Spacerun server or demo environment should be ready, and the system should be tested before the demo begins. That includes verifying the game launch path, controller input, audio, and stream settings.
On the client side, the demo can be shown on an iPhone, iPad, Windows PC, macOS device, or Android device. For the cleanest result, use a device with reliable hardware decoding support and a stable network connection.

Requirements

Stable Network

A stable network matters more than raw speed alone. For a good demo, latency and consistency are more important than peak bandwidth.
As a general baseline, 15–25 Mbps is enough for a basic smooth session, while 30–50+ Mbps is better for higher-quality settings. If the demo is running at 1440p or high frame rates, more bandwidth is recommended.
Even when bandwidth is high, packet loss or unstable Wi-Fi can still reduce stream quality, so the connection should be tested in advance.
Please do not use VPN during the demo. It is not possible to start a session while VPN is enabled.

Network Requirements by Resolution and Refresh Rate

The exact bandwidth needed depends on codec, scene complexity, bitrate behavior, and overall connection stability, but the following ranges work well as practical demo guidance.

Device Video Decode Support

Before starting the demo, make sure the client device supports the selected codec.
AV1 is not available on some devices due to hardware decoding limitations. It should only be used on devices and GPUs that support AV1 decoding.
For Apple devices, AV1 support is available on Macs with M3 and later and iPhone 15 Pro and later. If AV1 support is not confirmed, use HEVC (H.265) instead, or H.264 for maximum compatibility.

Auto Bitrate

For live demos, Auto Bitrate should generally stay enabled. It helps the stream adapt to changing network conditions and reduces the chance of visible stutter during gameplay or heavy motion scenes.
Manual bitrate is better reserved for fully controlled environments where the network is known in advance.

Recommended Streaming Settings

For a safe default live demo, 1080p at 60 FPS with HEVC or H.264, Auto Bitrate enabled, and hardware acceleration on when supported is the most reliable choice. ​

For a higher-end demo, 1440p at 120 FPS can be used when the device and network are strong enough. In that case, HEVC is still a very safe choice, while AV1 should only be used if support is already confirmed.
