Assumptions of my product's users to get me started

Persona #1: The Researcher

Motivations
Makes sure they know as many aspects as they can about their move to their new city
Will check official government websites, cross-validate with other websites and sources like articles/blogs, friends, trusted institutions (like a university they will be attending), or even call the government office/department
Asks a lot of questions

Pains
Outdated sources
Not hearing from government/department fast enough for info
Having to search through different sources

Persona #2: The Researcher who has moved for a limited time

Motivations
Moved for a new role or school
Wants to get to know the city for their convenience, and to know the place well
Services used

Pains
May rely on school, work, and colleagues for information that may not be accurate
May rely on hearsay from peers
Won’t really avail of resources/services if they are not necessary to them

Persona #3: The Researcher who is planting roots (has moved long-term)

Motivations
Moved for a new role or for family/lifestyle
Has a spouse, child, parent, and/or pet who depend on them and may need government service at some point (ie. school for child, senior citizen transportation for senior parent)
Wants to be active member of community
Wants to make use of resources and services if they are paying more taxes

Pains
May rely on hearsay from peers and neighbours that might not be accurate, need to cross-validate
Unnecessary bureaucracy associated with applying for certain services
Finding hidden local laws/rules that might prevent them from proceeding with a project (ie. zoning laws in regards to home renovations)

Persona #4: The Researcher with Dependents

Motivations
Has a spouse, child, parent, and/or pet who depend on them and may need government service at some point (ie. school for child, senior citizen transportation for senior parent)
Most likely has livelihood so they need to research to make use of their time and resources wisely

Pains
Unnecessary bureaucracy associated with applying for certain services
Cost of services
Language/translation struggles if a dependent does NOT speak local language
