Plan Your Other Wedding Events

Beyond the ceremony and reception, there may be additional opportunities to bring family members and loved ones together in celebration. A few of the most common events include a wedding shower, bachelor and bachelorette parties, and rehearsal dinner. All these events are broken down below with tips and tricks to help you plan these while also planning your wedding!
WEDDING SHOWER
The tradition of “showering” the couple with gifts for their new life together usually occurs around twelve weeks before the wedding. Traditionally, this event is hosted by a non-immediate family member of the bride (aunts, cousins, etc.) or by bridal party members. However, anyone can host the shower! Games and activities are a great way to get all your guests involved and interacting.
BACHELORETTE AND BACHELOR PARTIES
Typically, the couple will gather separately, though joint parties are definitely common, with their favorite people to celebrate the last moment of singledom. What used to be one night of revelry has morphed into a weekend destination affair that typically occurs six to eight weeks before the wedding. Nashville, Scottsdale, Mexico, and Charleston are currently top locations to host a bachelorette party. Usually, the best man and maid of honor take on the responsibility of planning, with input from the couple and the rest of the wedding party. Here are the steps to take to plan your party:
Figure out what you want - do you want to stay in town or head to a new destination? Do you want a chill, relaxed atmosphere or a wild and crazy weekend?
Pick a location - decide on the climate, vibe, and activity preferences. This will help narrow down your options.
Pick a theme and plan activities - a theme will guide you toward what decorations to purchase and what activities are suitable for the group. Besides hitting up clubs and bars, boat charters, spa activities, outdoor picnics, yoga or fitness classes, and group classes like candle-making or cooking lessons are great alternatives for the gals. Golfing, fishing, hiking, rafting, or camping are great options for the guys.
Arrange group meals - whether you need to make reservations at the best restaurants in the area or plan to pick up groceries to cook together at the Airbnb.
Have fun! - this is the most crucial step. Make sure you (or your friends) are planning something you will enjoy.
REHEARSAL DINNER
The rehearsal dinner takes place on the evening before the wedding, usually following the ceremony rehearsal. Traditionally, this event is planned and hosted by the grooms parents, but anything goes. We’ve taken the guesswork out of planning and broken it down into simple steps.
Select a delightful theme to kick off the wedding weekend with joy. Consider options such as a backyard barbecue or a brewery night with a fun food truck.
Select a distinctive location, whether it’s a cherished family restaurant or a place with sentimental value. Consider a charming bar, a lively brewery, or a poolside bash.
Create a guest list, usually encompassing all members of both families, the wedding party, and any out-of-town guests who are to be invited to the event.
Consider timing - this can be based on your ceremony rehearsal, allowing your guests to head directly to the rehearsal dinner or allowing them time to get ready in between.
Above all, have fun! Incorporate enjoyable elements to ensure a stress-free evening!
