These are phrases to avoid using in ANY of your communication.
(These have been taken directly from emails that players have asked me to review in the past)
I hope I can play for you. I think I can be of value to you. It’s my dream to play at (school). Please email me back. I want to play at (school) more than anything! I throw (mph) off the mound.
Reminders
Email from a position of strength If you were — hands down — the best player in the country, would you say things like this? Even if you’re not the best player, you should still communicate as though you are. Communicate from a position of confidence and strength, not timidity. Leave statistics out of it unless a coach specifically asks for them If a coach wants to see your statistics, he’ll find them on his own. This is a rare example where it’s okay to let a coach find information on his own.
