We’re going to be authentic in everything we do. We’re NEVER going to lie or exaggerate.
Coaches evaluate more than just talent.
Design your whole package, not just your skills package
Show personality
Be honest and authentic — you know when you’re being pitched
Business deal
The recruiting process is a business deal. There’s a lot of money at stake. Treat it as such.
A coach can’t “take a chance on you” — this is how he provides for his family and puts food on the table. Understand the significance of this decision for him, and it will change the way you navigate the process. It will change the way you send emails, write texts, answer calls, etc.
You and the coach are both salesmen — you’re each buying something and selling something
The loophole
Use baseball or softball as a vehicle for your academic career
Most players will not play professionally
Hope/work for the best, plan for the worst
West Point example
