How to figure out which schools are more likely to respond to your email

“No sense in applying if they aren’t hiring.”
Looking for a job (example)

Big question: Is the school in desperate need of your position?

The more desperate a school is, the more likely they are to respond to your email.
You never truly know the status of a position at a school, but we can gauge it (which will help our overall chances)

How to figure out if a school needs your position

Check the school’s roster
Are they lacking underclassmen?
Are they lacking upperclassmen?
Are they likely looking for your grad year and position?
Check commits
Did they already sign someone to fill that role
Can check this by googling — “[school] [sport] [grad year] commits”
Stat track
Track the stats of the current players
Even if it looks like they don’t need you, it could be that their current players are underperforming and they’re looking for a change.
We kept an excel document of stats for players at my position, and then reached out to schools where the players weren’t performing well. (This document is shared in the additional resources section)

This will increase your email response rate drastically.
This is how you get ~5 responses from 20 emails instead of 0 responses from 100 emails.
