Advice on making the final decision (from someone who’s been in your shoes)
Some thoughts...
What do you really want out of your college experience? Boil it down to the nitty-gritty.
Make multiple pro/con lists (I found this very helpful)
Take the emotion out of the decision as much as possible
Bounce your experiences and thoughts off of friends, family, coaches, teachers, mentors, etc. The more input you get, the better. And then LISTEN to their input.
The best baseball school is not necessarily the best “fit” — and trust me, FITis the most important thing when choosing a school.
There’s no sense in committing to a “popular school” only to hate your time there.
Have a general plan for your future — you don’t have to know what you want to do in life, but you should think about the types of experiences you want, the skills you want, and the person you want to be...and then ask yourself: will this school set me up for those things?
Envision what it would be like to attend each school — think about distance from your family, extracurricular activities, features of the town/city, friendship opportunities, football games, academic circles, etc.
Take your time — don’t rush the decision. And when you do make a decision, NO REGRETS. Embrace it fully, and go all in!
