Description: Fridays For Future Africa, in collaboration with FFF DRC, calls upon the global community to unite in solidarity with the victims of conflict and climate crisis by joining an online strike. Amidst the dual challenges of climate change and conflict, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) faces immense hardships. FFF Africa advocates for a transition away from fossil fuels, emphasizing ethical sourcing of raw materials and respect for human rights.
Objectives: - Raise awareness of the humanitarian crisis in the DRC - Advocate for humanitarian aid, safe passages for victims, and an end to conflict - Highlight the importance of climate action and ethical sourcing in global movements
Campaign Details: - Participants will have access to a toolkit with background information and sample tweets - The toolkit sheds light on the work and aspirations of FFF activists in DRC - FFF Africa urges international bodies like the UN, AU, and EU to support humanitarian efforts in the DRC
Fundraiser Announcement: In partnership with Friends of the Congo, FFF Africa is launching a fundraiser to support frontline communities affected by climate crises in the DRC. Donations will directly contribute to climate action efforts and benefit those most impacted by conflict and environmental degradation.
About Friends of the Congo (FOTC): - Established in 2004, FOTC is a 501(c)(3) advocacy organization based in Washington, DC - Mission: Raise global awareness of the challenges facing the Congo and support Congolese institutions in achieving lasting change - Vision: A peaceful and prosperous Congo where the people can fulfill their potential
Why FFF Africa: - The partnership with FOTC bridges a crucial gap between African youth movements and the diaspora - FFF Africa aims for collaborative efforts to realize common goals, with the support of organizations aligned with its vision
