The Owner:

My name is Sydney, I am the owner of The Sugar Shack. I have been sugaring for 3 years now. I was born and raised right here in the beautiful town of Bellville! I have an amazing husband and two incredible little girls. A few things about me, I love Jesus, my family and my work. It fills my cup to meet women and serve them in a way that makes them feel beautiful and confident in the skin God gave them. I’m so excited to bring Sugaring to Richland County and to meet all the new faces that walk into my studio. ❤️

When it started: The idea to open The Sugar Shack was only born just a couple of months ago 😳 My business was starting to pick up and I was quickly outgrowing the tiny room I was in. I shared it with two other girls and there wasn’t the flexibility to grow there even if I wanted to. I knew if I took this leap of faith to go solo, I had to do it by this summer. So we went petal to the metal! My husband (bless him) busted his butt to get my studio done while I worked on the legalities of opening a business. Now we are in the final stages of putting it all together!

Goal: Make every woman feel a little bit sexier and a little more confident in the skin God gave them when they leave my room. Even if we have to pull some hair to get there!

The purpose of sugaring is to get every hair on the same growth cycle and this takes time.

The Sugaring Paste

The Sugaring Paste…made of only sugar, lemon juice, and water, this magical ball of paste is reused over and over again during the duration of your service before being discarded. Making it not only more efficient but also eco friendly due to the lack of waste. Because of its simple ingredients, you can rest assured that aren’t any harsh chemicals or resins to cause extra irritation to the skin as opposed to traditional waxing. It is applied at body temperature or slightly warmer. The application is incredibly comfortable and will never burn you. Unlike wax, the sugaring paste only adheres your hair and dead skin cells which makes it more exfoliating, less lifting, less irritation, and less in-grown hairs.

Facial Sugaring:

Did you know I offer full facial sugaring? Pick one or all areas: Brow Shaping, Cheeks, Jaw/Chin, Lip, and Sideburns. Facial sugaring pulls that vellus hair (peach fuzz) out by the root and exfoliates the dead leaving your skin baby soft. If you struggle with course hair of your face, this is a great option for you as it will grow back finer and softer. . And a little added bonus…your makeup will have a flawless finish ✨

How often? Once a month.

Temperature:

Did you know the sugaring paste is applied at body temperature or slightly warmer? You’ll never be burned during a sugaring appointment, which means less discomfort and less irritation. Just one more reason sugaring is the superior form of hair removal.

Unwanted Facial Hair:

Do you struggle with unwanted facial hair? Whether it’s peach fizz or course, dark hairs caused by hormones, sugaring is the more gentle option of removing hair by the root while leaving your skin smooth, exfoliated and non-irritated. Chose from one or all areas of the face: -eyebrow shaping -upper lip -chin/jaw

Double Dipping:

Let’s talk about DOUBLE DIPPING and why it’s NASTY. If you’re someone that gets waxed (not sugared), whether it be soft or hard wax, beware of waxers who double dip the stick 🚩Because if they’re double dipping with you, they’re double dipping with everybody else. A stick should be used ONCE and then discarded. Did you know wax pots breed bacteria? Did you know you can get an STD through a wax pot? If you like wax, great! Just make sure your girl is sanitary about it 🤷🏽‍♀️ How is sugaring different? There is ZERO double dipping. The same ball of paste is used for your entire service then thrown in the trash. If I need more paste, I discard my paste AND my glove. Grab a new glove and a new ball of sugaring paste. Sugar by nature is antibacterial so nothing is going to grow in my tub of sugar.

Laying down the sugar fact:

Fact: when laying down the sugar, it’s important to spread it using just your finger tips. Not only does this keep things from becoming sloppy but it creates tracks. See them? That shows me the sugar is wrapping around the entire hair strand so when I go to flick it, that hair is going to slide right out of the follicle. If I don’t see the tracks, I guarantee that hair won’t come out.

Why Maintenance is Important:

Continuing to maintain the areas you typically get sugared, especially your Brazilian and underarms, is MOST important during the off season. Here are a few reasons why… 1. Regular sugaring appointments lead to more permanency. Continually removing the hair every 3-5 weeks (during the anagen growth phase) tells your body it needs to stop producing that hair and that’s why, over time, your hair begins to grow in more sparse. 2. Returning to shaving is not only uncomfortable for you (and your partner) but you will ruin any progress you’ve made in the last few months. Shaving causes the root of the hair to swell which means coming back in for your Brazilian will feel like the first time all over again, we all know that can be a little less than pleasant. 3. You’re creating more work for yourself. Having to shave every day is just one more chore, one more thing you have to worry about. Come see me once a month and let me do the work for you. . Whatever you chose to do, keep exfoliating and keep moisturizing 💋
