We encourage you to adorn your professional and social profiles with this Splunk superuser accolade. are the assets to show off this distinction!
Responsibilities
Splunk User Group Leaders volunteer their time to host bimonthly events (at least 6 events a year) and build a local Splunk Community. As the Leader, you are the main point of contact for the community members in your chapter and responsible for the chapter’s growth and engagement.
1. Hosting events: Virtual or In-Person
We take into consideration how eager your community is, as well as natural slow periods in the year and personal limitations. We ask that leaders host events every other month on average.
Typically, this requires about 5 hours of dedicated time per month.
2. Using Bevy, the Splunk User Groups Dashboard
Leaders must use the Bevy Dashboard (usergroups.splunk.com) to manage all event-related communication and planning. This includes collecting RSVPs, sending emails, distributing surveys, etc.
When hosting an in-person event, Leaders must check attendees in using the dashboard.
When hosting a virtual event, Leaders must always share the event permalink (even if an external link is shared) so that all attendees are automatically checked-in and counted when they join.
3. Deciding the topic, speaker, and venue (if in-person)
It is the responsibility of the Leader to select and secure relevant speakers/panelists or to facilitate a roundtable discussion. For in-person events, it is also the Leader’s responsibility to secure a venue.
We want to encourage Leaders to empower local industry leaders in their own communities to speak and educate.
4. Frequent Communication with the Splunk Community Team
We expect Leaders to use the email and the Splunk Slack Workspace (splk.it/slack) for all communication with the Splunk Community HQ team. Please make sure you have access to the private User Groups Leader channel: #ug_leaders We also hold quarterly calls for Leaders.
An important part of your responsibilities: Splunk User Group Leaders provides a space for everyone to come together, connect, learn, and grow with each other. We strive to create safe spaces for people regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, age, race, or religion (or lack thereof).
