Sponsors and Partners

Budget

At this time, there is no budget for libations or venues for in person events. However, we encourage our User Group Leaders to procure venue partnerships and food sponsorships if their chapter desires. It is not an expectation that leaders pay out of pocket for any Splunk User Group related costs.
It is optional to offer light accommodations for food and drinks for attendees. Cost for this can be covered through sponsorships or through in kind donations with partners. Splunk is not responsible for any costs associated with food or drink at these events.

Partnerships and Sponsorships

Why do companies want to sponsor Splunk user Group events?
Awareness - they want everyone in the industry to recognize their brand and logo
Thought leadership - they want their team members and customers to speak at events
We've created an OPTIONAL sponsorship document for anyone who hasn't had experience in asking stakeholders to parter with a User Group.

Venue

(in person events only)
The choice of venue is very important as it acts as the first impression to the community and will also set the tone for future events.
For your free events, you can ask to use the HQ office space of the featured speaker/panelist, or partner with a co-working space with a mission to build community. You can include their company logo and information on your event page, marketing emails, and event posts. You can allow the venue partner to send an email before or after the event to your attendees. This email could include a discount or special, or just various news, promotions, etc.
When it comes to venue perks you want to look for a place that:
Has a good atmosphere that people like, will feel comfortable in, and will easily be able to network with one another.
Is able to support external catering/food, and is easy to clean up if anything is dropped or spilled.
Is a good place to record video and/or audio- no echoes or bad lighting that will affect the video or audio recording negatively.
Has enough room to fit the size of your audience.
Offers free WiFi for attendees.
Has the necessary equipment for your event, eg. a screen and projector if you plan to present.

Hi {{NAME}}!
I’m {{YOUR NAME}}, the Leader of an event program called {{CITY}} Splunk User Group. These events fulfill the need for community professionals to share actionable strategies and advice when it comes to all things community building.
I’m reaching out to see if you have any interest in hosting an event or two with us? What we've done in the past with spaces like yours is include you as a partner — your space, your logo, and your information — on our event page, in all our marketing emails, and event posts.
Thanks {{NAME}},
I look forward to hearing from you!
