What is the purpose of the Shared Ministry Covenant?
The purpose of the Shared Ministry Covenant is to align all church ministries towards a common vision and allow for coordination of resourcing and support from staff and volunteer leadership.
Are there any requirements for group leaders?
Yes, all leaders must complete and submit an annual Group Leader Checklist and at least one leader of the group must be an active member of Foothills Church.
Can groups submit a Shared Ministry Covenant for shorter than one year?
If your group activity is intended to be less than one year, that is 100% okay.
What happens if a Shared Ministry Covenant is not approved?
If the document is not approved, the group will receive feedback and requests for changes, and will need to resubmit the document for review.
What if I can't attend the scheduled group leader training sessions?
If you are unable to attend the scheduled group leader training sessions, the training will be recorded. You can watch the recorded session and complete a short quiz afterward, which will count as your attendance.
Can a group with unique circumstances, like not holding regular meetings, participate in the Shared Ministry Covenanting Process?
It would be best to consult with the church leadership to determine if your group needs to participate in the process. In general, the process is designed to cover all ministry groups, but there may be exceptions or alternative arrangements for certain groups.
What should we do if we have scheduling conflicts or personal commitments that make it difficult to attend the group leader training or meet the submission deadline?
Please communicate your concerns with the church leadership, who will help you find a suitable solution. We understand that personal commitments and scheduling conflicts may arise, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
Is it necessary to attend group leader training if we have already attended one in the past?
The training we are launching in May of this year is newly updated, so we are requesting all group participate.
Can we submit our Shared Ministry Covenant before completing the group leader training?
Yes, the group leadership checklist and the deadline for the shared ministry covenant are independent. You need not complete the group leader training before completing the shared ministry covenant, as long as your group leaders have a plan to complete the training.
What if our group cannot complete the Shared Ministry Covenant process before the current deadline?
If you need an extension of a couple of weeks, please contact Rev. Sean to discuss. If you will likely need more than that, The next round of Shared Ministry Covenants will be reviewed and accepted in in November, allowing your group to resume or relaunch activities and events in the new year.
