Assessing a Case

The ASSESS phase of the SAVVI Process, builds a Case Index, and assigns each case to the most appropriate Responsible Organisation to assess. The assessment captures new circumstance information about a situation and determines one or more unmet Needs.

The list of Needs is set out in advance, for which one or more support Services can be offered.

Assessing Needs can use a ‘strength based approach’ rather than simply asking which services a person would like. That approach enables the Responsible Organisation to understand a person’s own strengths and capabilities, and what support might be available from their wider support network such as family.
