The mission of RYASAP is to be a catalyst in communities to ensure the safe and healthy development of youth, young adults and families. Our approach to achieving our mission is to (1) provide direct services to young people and families, (2) build the capacity for others to provide supports through leadership development and training and (3) promote systems change through needs assessment, planning, legislation, and administrative changes. RYASAP also coordinates and supports stakeholders work within Greater Bridgeport:
Coordinate the Local Interagency Service Team (LIST aka Juvenile Justice Task Force)
The Hub a division of RYASAP is DMHAS’ designated Regional Behavioral Health Action Organization (RBHAO) serving Southwestern Connecticut – 14 communities from Greenwich to Stratford. Our role is to serve as a strategic community partner, and resource for the region, supporting and coordinating initiatives related to mental health, suicide, substance misuse, and problem gambling. As an RBHAO we are responsible for a range of assessing behavioral health (BH) needs, develop priorities and recommendations addressing prevention, treatment and recovery needs across BH. The hub gathers data, develop plans, promote awareness, and advocates for change for children and adults. The hub also coordinates and supports stakeholders work within the region:
Assess behavioral health needs in the region & develop regional strategic plan
Serve on local, regional and statewide advisory and planning bodies
Administer LPC grants to municipalities to stimulate the development and implementation of prevention activities
Raise awareness and provide advocacy to promote mental health and support behavioral health prevention, treatment and recovery
Build the capacity of local communities to understand and address problem gambling
Provide Naloxone training and kit distribution to communities
Facilitate and Maintain Regional Suicide Advisory Board
Suicide Prevention Tasks (ie. Advance public awareness, develop post-vention procedure and disseminate)
Recovery Friendly Workplace
Prepare the regional priority report DMHAS

*Note increase from FY19 to FY20 represents SWRMHB FY 19 contribution of $6,000 + RYASAP FY19 contribution of $15,000. SWRMHB and RYASAP merged in March 2019
