Written Instructions and Screenshots

1. Create your report in Salesforce with the desired columns (if not already).

Tip: Add a unique identifier to your Salesforce Report
Salesforce reports must contain a unique identifier for each record. IUpdate your Salesforce report to add a unique attribute (for example, Account ID for an Accounts report, Opportunity ID for an Opportunities report, etc.). Otherwise, you will see an error like the below when you attempt to sync your report to Coda.

2. Add a new Salesforce Report table.

There are two ways to add a table to your Coda doc.
Option 1: Type /Salesforce in your doc and select Salesforce in the menu that pops up.

Option 2: Select Insert > Packs to use the Packs menu.

Select Salesforce from the list of Packs.

3. Hide unnecessary columns .

After adding your Salesforce Report as a table in Coda, you can now update the table in the same ways that you can update any table in Coda. Add new columns with details from Salesforce. Change the column type and select Report Record to see the additional fields available.

You can also hide columns that aren’t relevant:

Change the view by using filters, updating the display, or adding new columns. See for a few example.

4. Update columns or convert columns types for easier reporting.

Salesforce sends records to Coda in one large package of information. As you can see when you hover over one of the Salesforce record chips, each record references all information associated with it. This package of information can be problematic when you want to display your report or filter on data. Below are a few examples of how you can update the report to optimize in Coda.

For Contact and Lead reports, I recommend adding a Full name field to concatenate First and Last Name. Then, update the Full Name column to be your display column.

By default, the display column is set as the Salesforce Record ID, which isn’t helpful when referring the record in charts. Find the unique and most important column (for example, the Opportunity Name in an Opportunity report), and select set as display column from the column menu dropdown.
