I guess you think “What the hell is DesignX?”, so let me explain. DesignX is an activity, aiming to increase awareness of designers and stakeholders about the Design Process in their organization, by providing assessments and suggest how to make it more efficient.
Main goal of DesignX
To evaluate the design process, identify improvement areas and risks, and increase efficiency by optimizing the delivery lifecycle and reducing costs. By doing so we aim to improve product design value, leading to higher customer satisfaction and business success.
Risks we’re aiming to reduce
Increased project costs: delays, rework, and other inefficiencies.
Delayed project timelines: delays that push back project deadlines, which can result in lost opportunities and revenue.
Decreased product quality: low-quality products that do not meet customer expectations.
Reduced user satisfaction: impact brand reputation and future business opportunities.
Inefficient resource utilization: wasted resources, including time, money, and personnel.
Decreased employee morale: frustration and burnout among team members.
How to assess?
I’ve prepared a short check-list for you before you start the assessment.
the assessment-session with Product/Project and Delivery management to address your questions.
Look through the questions you want to address, KPIs you need to be aware of and artefacts for check. In case of any problems feel free to contact the initiative lead for clarification.
Get access to Jira or Kibana (or any other source of info) to make preliminary evaluation of some criteria and fill in the
In case you don’t have access to all needed artifacts and data, before proceed to evaluation, don’t hesitate to ask to show it to you during the session.
During the 1×1 sessions
Remember, that we here for help, not to judge, so don’t share any blaming comments or shaming looks. Keep it for the report.
Note, that you can hide columns to not disturb you.
You can make you evaluation moving through the sections one by one, or you can firstly talk with every person of interest and then proceed to the evaluation.
to see the comparison of your design process maturity with predefined levels and see where to focus in improvements first.
What’s next?
This evaluation model is not a silver bullet that answers all your questions with 100% accuracy. You’ll need to refine the results, reducing the duplicates in suggestions, excluding fluctuations and misinterpretation. To do that you can conduct the refinement sessions with all of your team members and to talk about the the grades you’ve get.
Or if you think it’s better to have a professional opinion, you can address your request to Dzmitry Vanitski. In any case, you’ll received a list of common problems and suggestion list, which can be easily transformed into backlog items.
We suggest to to re-evalauate your design process after some time to see the progression.
