Checklist

A helpful pre-flight checklist

Remote Session

For remote sessions, we recommend:
Bringing the team together in Zoom, Teams or the remote tool of choice
Set the expectation of a videos-on session from the start
Use the pre-made Miro board here
Music is great for when people work solo -
Update the template to fit your team size
The step-by-step guide that comes with each kit

In-Person Session

For each in-person session, we recommend:
U-shaped seating setup
Music is great for when people work solo -
Post it notes
Sharpie pens (not biros - it makes the writing too small)
Projector and computer to display the 2 discussion prompts
Flip chart
Timer - we recommend or display on a screen

Team Mindsets

Learning > Being Right: we will use experiments to build data about the direction we should take (rather than opinion)
Tangible > Abstract: we will make our ideas tangible so that others can clearly understand them, rather than discussing ideas
Doing > Debating: we will prioritise action over debate. This allows us to quickly get to User Testing where clarity on what to do next will be at its peak
Progress > Perfection: we will trust the process and treat ‘failure’ as data to help us adapt and advance

Facilitation Principles

Together, Alone: group dynamics tend to sway teams to agree with the most senior in the room. This is destructive to problem-solving. We get participants to capture their thoughts and ideas individually, prior to sharing, to preserve the integrity and diversity of ideas in the group
Visualise everything: when teams are managing a high volume of topics and discussions, their ability to remember details is weak. As the facilitator, your responsibility is to visualise all discussions so that the team can keep track
Decider, Always: the biggest risk to progress when working fast is debate and deliberation. We use a single Decider to help make key decisions throughout the Sprints. Remember, the User Testing is where clarity of strategy becomes clear - the most important thing is getting to those conversations as quickly as possible.
